The player I used in my previous post ( ‘nBBS Admin CP’ ) is now available in the WordPress.org’s plugin directory.
A quick overview:
- This plugin lets you embed a flash stream using Geoff Stearn’s player.
- You can embed multiple movies in the same page and/or post.
- You can embed movies in posts and comments.
- You can specify a width and a height to override the default values of 640×480.
- I use Geoff’s Javascript to work around Adobe’s restriction on flash content display.
I know it’s not the first Flash plugin for WordPress…just let me know if you have creative ideas for this little guy.
Find it here.

Is it just me or is there a file missing from somewhere?
Geoff’s package has the swfobject.js, yours has flvplayer.php, neither has the flvplayer.swf…
Jeff,
If you get Geoff’s package from his web site, here: http://www.jeroenwijering.com/upload/jw_flv_player.zip you will find flvplayer.swf at the package root.
Hi there, I am sorry, having a spot of bother getting this to work. I have uploaded flvplayer.swf, swfobject.js and flvplayer.php to wp-content/plugins and activated it in admin. I am currently getting a large white box where the video should be. I have tried moved the flv file around the wordpress site but cannot get it to play. Could you please tell me where the plugin expects to find the flv file if you just refer to it by its name without the path? I have tried putting a full path in eg:
[flvplayer http://vps.abd-uk.com/~griff665/wp/wp-content/uploads/stamp_video.flv
but it just displays this code as it is with no box.
Here is a link to a page that shows this:
http://vps.abd-uk.com/~griff665/?p=41
and the post just contains the following code:
[flvplayer http://vps.abd-uk.com/~griff665/wp/wp-content/uploads/stamp_video.flv
I would be very grateful for any suggestions, I have been going round in circles for ages now, thank you.
Best wishes
Clive
Sorry, pasting went wierd, the post contains the code:
[flvplayer http://vps.abd-uk.com/~griff665/wp/wp-content/uploads/stamp_video.flv
try again (put in quotes to avoid anything getting changed!)
“
[flvplayer http://vps.abd-uk.com/~griff665/wp/wp-content/uploads/stamp_video.flv“
nope, putting it in quotes made no difference,
######
####[flvplayer http://vps.abd-uk.com/~griff665/wp/wp-content/uploads/stamp_video.flv
or asterisks!
[f_l_v_player stamp_video.flv]
[flvplayer http://vps.abd-uk.com/~griff665/wp/wp-content/uploads/stamp_video.flv
aha, the underscores fixed it! Sorry, can you delete the other posts please, it looks a bit messy…
Hi there again, just to rule a few things out, I tried it on another site, this time with a live site, in case the temporary address was messing things up. Here is the link:
http://www.spanishletsonline.com/?p=25
and the code I put in was:
[flvplayer http://www.spanishletsonline.com/wp/stamp_video.flv
and unfortunately it still does not appear to work. The plugin installed correctly, I would be grateful for any help? Many thanks and apologies for the many posts above this one.
Clive,
First of all, mu apologies for waiting several days. I had not noticed your comments.
I was successful installing the plug-in on another blog (see http://chris.ravenscroft.info/?p=119&preview=true)
What version of Flash player are you using? On what OS?
Afer been investigating i realiize that the proble clive is getting is because he is copying the flv-player files i “flv-player” folder there is the issue.
deactivate the plugin
2.- errase it from ur server
then upload “flvplayer.php”, “flvplayer.swf” and “swfobject.js” directly to “wp-content/plugins/”
3.- then activate ur plugin and use it
Thats all

I have 2 or more flv in a page…
Thanks admin
I have your plugins
nice plugin im using it now
http://www.chia-anime.com
does it also work as a widget or just inside posts/pages?
@ovidiu –
There is an updated version of this post at http://nexus.zteo.com/2009/06/14/wordpress-flv-player-plugin-v20/#comments
To answer your question: it does not work as a widget. Is this something you would need? I’m sure that it wouldn’t take long to convert it so that it can also be a widget…
tnx for sharing… the defualt jw player code that I was using was buggy
Thankz……….

Thanks Carlos, I’ve bee chasing my tail with this one since yesterday morning and now it’s working. One thing though, when the video isn’t playing I have a black screen where I would normally see a jpg image. Is there any way to get round this using your method?
Sorry I can’t show you the page as I have to acquire the license for using this software commercially so it will have to remain private for now.
